Hermies!

My present to Slayton this year when he turned 7 was two hermit crabs. We went to Petco and got all the little food and a little bag of sand to put in the 1 gallon Kritter Keeper we bought. We brought them home and then I started to actually research what these little buggers needed! Well! Let me tell you! They need a lot! Humidity, deep sand, climb-y toys, extra shells, all kinds of special organic foods, salt water, etc. So, we hauled down the 29 gallon tank that we had in the attic. It has a crack in one of the corners, so it was perfect for the crabs. We have slowly upgraded the tank and now it is perfect!

I have to say, I think I like the hermies more than Slayton. I am a *tad* bit addicted. The number of hermies has now grown to 17! I have the hardest time passing by a pet store and not stopping in to see if they have any crabs...and a harder time leaving without at least one if they do!

Here is a picture of one of our medium crabs. This is Carrie. All of the crabs have King Of Queens names. Doug is our jumbo...;).

I'll post more about the hermies later. Just wanted to introduce them!

One Cute Kid!

If he is nothing else, Riley is a CUTE kid! He just makes me smile (when he is not totally frustrating me!). He comes up with the sweetest things to say and ask. Last summer, he started getting the sweetest freckles across his nose! Riley looks just like his Daddy and is special because he DIDN'T get the red hair like the others! People always ask 'what happened to him?!'. Well, I think it is special that he got fine, sandy brown hair instead of red! It makes him unique...and One Cute Kid!

Is that a...

So, we were driving down the road the other day and unfortunately, there was some roadkill along the way. It was a poor raccoon. So, Slayton says "Mom...is that an armadillo?!"

Now, this would probably not be funny...if we didn't live in Vermont!

I saved us $35!

So, this morning, Kira was picking her nose (more than usual!). So, I looked up there and there was something in there! I got a plastic fork and used a tine to get the POPCORN KERNEL out of there. Oy! All three of our kids have shoved stuff up their noses. Slayton shoved a pomegranate seed up there and Riley shovel in a pea. It must be genetic. So, with so much experience, I was able to get the kernel out without paying the ER fee! :)

2 Kid Funnies!

Kid Funny #1:

I have an hour lunch break from work, so I come home sometimes. Riley was home sick the other day, so we were chatting.

Riley: Mama...why do you work?
Me: So we can have money to buy things.
Riley: I want to go to work.
Me: Well, what do you want to be when you grow up? You can be a policeman, doctor...
Riley: I want to be BATMAN!

Kid Funny #2:

Riley had a stomach ache and pretty much as soon as he was feeling better, Slayton started feeling ill.

Riley: Mama! I am feeling nuch better!
Slayton: Well, yeah, that because you gave the germs to me!

Kiki turns 2!

We had Kira's party on Sunday. It was an adorable Luau theme! I found the dress she is wearing at Target and then they added a bunch of Luau stuff to the Dollar Spot, so the theme was born!

We had coconut shrimp, fruit salad, watermelon, goldfish crackers, Tropical Punch Kool-Aid, and carrot cake with whipped cream cream cheese frosting...YUM!

Kiki got some more doll house furniture from Mom and Dad, an adorable baby doll from Grandma Louise, a puppy puzzle and stuffed puppy from Grandma Betsey and Grandpa Arthur, a TON of sweet summer clothes from Auntie Allie and Uncle Sean, and a girly pink dress, a purse, and a book from Grandma and Grandpa Briggs.

Now it's time to scrapbook the pictures!

Retro kit by Sarah Peale (www.digiaisle.com)
Tear and chalking actions by Atomic Cupcake (www.atomiccupcake.com)

Things have been so crazy around here lately that I have been able to very little in the 'digi' world. I decided to do a page before I went to bed last night. I designed this kit before I bought Kiki this outfit...what a perfect match! I guess I am just drawn to these colors!
